Let's Give Thanks

I missed the boat this year on posting one thing a day that I am thankful for in my life, so I decided to give you a run down of 30 things...

ONE: I'm thankful for a husband who is funny, supportive, loving and hard working. He gets up and goes to work every day so that Chandler and I can stay home together, and he comes home with a smile on his face ready to tackle bath time and bed time so that I can have a break. I am eternally grateful for everything he gives us, he is definitely our glue!

TWO: My happy, healthy, beautiful, funny daughter. I still cannot believe that I get to be your mom. You humble me, you try my patience, you love me in the most special way, being your mother has been the single best thing I have ever done.

THREE: My mom. She is an incredible person who loves us no matter what. She taught me how to be a mom by setting the best example. Her smile, laugh and happy chatter definitely keep me going on days that are tough.

FOUR: My dad. He showed us the world. From teaching us how to drive tractors and use a nail gun to taking us all over the world, he has made sure that we are prepared for life...and he's pretty amazing for fielding my never-ending questions even now!

FIVE: My sister, Chandler. I mean she'd have to be pretty amazing for me to name our sweet baby after her. She is the sunshine in my day. She always has a bright smile and her happy personality is infectious. On top of that, she's killing it in school and is going to be one seriously successful Speech Pathologist! I admire her dedication to everything she puts her mind to!

SIX: My in-laws. They are a steady stream of willing helpers that I rely on, more than I'd like to admit. They are always here when I need them and they love Chandler so much.

SEVEN: Chandler's grandparents...I realize that I've already listed them above, but seeing our parents as grandparents is different from seeing them as our parents. They have endless patience with her and the love they have for her is something you can absolutely see. I think they each have a very special relationship with her and I love that!

EIGHT: A roof over our heads. After the flood this year, I am so thankful for everything that we have. I'm also exceedingly aware of all of the excess that we have. It's a constant reminder to give and I'm thankful for the roof and the fact that it reminds me to give back.

NINE: I'm so thankful for good health. This year started out with a bang in the healthcare arena for me...c-section and then a DVT. Today I can say that the DVT has been treated and we're still working on getting it resolved, but I'm safe and healthy. As for the c-section, other than a small scar, which I actually like (it serves as a reminder of my sweet baby), it's as if I never had one! Which leads me to number...

TEN: Doctors. I have two absolutely wonderful doctors. They are both so knowledgable, down to earth, real, and relaxed. They have taken the best care of me, one doing an impeccable job with my c-section and the other making sure I got through this blood clot situation unscathed.

ELEVEN: Exercise. I feel so lucky to be able to move my body and exercise. I can stay in shape by running or walking or doing pretty much whatever I want and that is a blessing.

TWELVE: Friends. I have some pretty wonderful friends. I am so thankful for their wisdom and advice, their support and love. I can always count on you guys to lift me up and make me feel like I'm on top of the world.

THIRTEEN: Keep Your Fork Cheesecakes. It seems silly, but this little business has taken off in a way I never expected. It has been a fun surprise and I'm so thankful for the ability to make sweet treats for others to share. It has really been a fun adventure.

FOURTEEN: Cousins. I don't get to see you guys much, but it is so much fun when we get together! I always look forward to this time of year when we can see each other and catch up...and play the quiet game ;-)

FIFTEEN: My church. It took me awhile to find just the right fit. But now that I have, I feel as though I'm at home. I am blessed to have a wonderful church and choir family and to feel safe, comfortable, and loved when I am there.

SIXTEEN: I'm thankful for clean water, hot water especially, but after boiling water for almost two weeks during the flood I am so grateful for fresh, clean water that comes out of the faucet. Water that is good to drink and safe for showers and brushing my teeth.

SEVENTEEN: I'm thankful for electricity...Need I say more?

EIGHTEEN: Money.  I have a love hate relationship with money...I hate that we have to have it and that we rely on it so much, but I am so happy that we have enough to keep our water and lights on, to put good food on our table and to keep us warm (or cool) and clothed.

NINETEEN: I'm laughing as I write this, but I'm thankful for Abby Cadabby. She makes Chandler laugh and smile when nothing else will...Sesame Street in general is a blessing (silly though it may seem!)

TWENTY: Books. I'm thankful for books and the ability to read them. There is no better escape than a good book.

TWENTY-ONE: McIntosh Cottage Antiques. Because of this business, my dad's hobby, and the generosity of my parents we have a well-furnished home...heck...we have a furnished home! Without them loaning us furniture, we'd have a sofa and a bed...and that's it.

TWENTY-TWO: Our camera. I am grateful for the ability to capture special moments. Adam and I have captured our travels, our milestones, and most recently our beautiful daughter all with the click of a button. And with the click of a few more, we can relive those brilliant memories.

TWENTY-THREE: Travel. I have been so blessed to be able to travel in my life. It is probably my favorite hobby and I can't wait until we can pack our bags and head off on another adventure.

TWENTY-FOUR: My car. It gets us all, along with the mountains of stuff we seem to always need, from point A to point B.

TWENTY-FIVE: My phone. It seems frivolous to be thankful for a phone, but because of the phone I stay connected to the people I love the most. Cell phones have made it so easy to span the distance between us and I am grateful for that. I am thrilled that with the touch of a button I can talk to my family in Georgia or chat with my best friend in Arkansas, or set up a girls night with three of my best friends who are just a few miles away.

TWENTY-SIX:  Just Frivolous. I'm thankful for this blog that is my outlet. I've met some really great people through blogging and reading blogs. It's a great way to share experiences and learn from others.

TWENTY-SEVEN: I am thankful for my previous job. I learned so much working for a great group of people and I am still thankful for the support that shared when I decided to become a stay at home mom. I didn't know what to expect and everyone sent me on my way with their most sincere blessings.

TWENTY-EIGHT: Food. I love food. Eating and cooking are two of my favorites hobbies. I love reading about food, experimenting in the kitchen and trying new restaurants. One of my dream jobs would be to be a food critique!

TWENTY-NINE: I am grateful for music...all types. I am so happy that my parents exposed me to all types of music and encouraged me to take piano lessons and sing in the choir. I am thankful that Chandler loves music and I am so thankful for her Music Together class where she can learn about music in an environment that encourages her to let go and have fun.

THIRTY: I am thankful for my life, the ups, the downs, everything. I have lived a pretty perfect and amazing life and I don't take time enough to stop and remember that. Everything I have done and have been able to do and experience is a blessing. Even my "bad" days are nothing compared to what others have endured. I am truly blessed and have so much to be thankful for.

What are you thankful for this holiday season?

And now let's get ready for Thanksgiving!

Five on Friday!

As usual, I'm linking up with some very special ladies for Five on Friday this morning! Stop by two of my favorite blogs today: A. Liz Adventures and Carolina Charm!

We had a great trip to Georgia last weekend to celebrate on of my favorite ladies and her soon to be born baby boy! The shower was so much fun and check out these flowers...how cute is that? Beautiful flowers and a sweet little John Deere truck for baby boy!

A HUGE thank you to Pink Sorbet in Columbia for allowing me to showcase my cheesecakes in their store during Devine Night Out last night. Of course the table they set up looked amazing...and I may have left with a little dress to add to my spring wardrobe!

I am so excited to be spending the weekend with my seester!!!! Sweet Aunt Chan is hosting me for a little girls weekend in Athens! I'm looking forward to it and I think it will be a great daddy-daughter weekend for Adam and little Chan!

Two of my favorites!
I am obsessed with this vest from Talbots...like seriously it is sooo cute and I love the removable fur collar. I've added it to my Christmas list!

So thankful for the sun that decided to FINALLY come out and shine this week! What a difference the sunlight makes on a day! Thank goodness for some bright days and a little vitamin D!

Happy weekend!

How are the holidays already here?

Every year I feel like the holiday season sneaks up on me...but never have I ever felt like that more than I have this year! I think the addition of my cheesecake business, plus Santa's first visit to our house this year just really has me in a tailspin!

I always like to be ahead of the game when it comes to Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I've never been one to break out the Christmas decorations before the turkey is out of the oven! That said, I'm starting to see the plus side of decorating early! I am really not sure how we'll get it all done, especially with little Chan crawling right under foot!

Luckily I got a jump start on Christmas shopping last night, Chandler has made her Christmas list for Santa (with a lot of help...obviously) and yesterday we took our Christmas card picture and ordered our cards.

While I know we'll be busy this holiday season, I'm excited about showing Chandler all of the joys of Thanksgiving and Christmas. We are blessed to be looking forward to lots of time to enjoy family and friends over the next month and a half!

Here is a sneak peek of our Christmas card! Many thanks to our tripod and the timer on the camera!!

Happy Holidays!

9 Months!

I say it every month, but I can't believe our little angel is 9 months old! (And because I'm behind again...she's actually 9 months and some change!)

Our smiling girl is a joy to be around these days...not that she hasn't always been a joy! She is so happy and loves to play and is really starting to be very playful and interactive. As I was taking her 9 month pictures, she decided she no longer wants to sit down....so that makes things difficult...

She has the sweetest baby giggles and we just love hearing her say "ma ma ma" and "da da da" and everything else! We have quite the talker and it is so much fun! We babble at each other all day every day! Chandler is still sleeping between 12 and 12.5 hours each night and takes two naps a day. Each nap averages around an hour and a half. Thank goodness we have a great sleeper!

Chandler is great about playing solo and keeping herself entertained.

She eats three meals a day, and most are made up of a combination of finger foods and purees. She is doing a great job with picking up her food, but I'm not sure how much actually ends up in her mouth...and stays there! She is very helpful and loves to clear her tray off (onto the floor) when she is finished eating. Her favorite foods right now are cheese, yogurt, grapes, strawberries, blueberries, squash, and the list goes on! Gone are the days of our picky eater!

In celebration of her 9 month birthday, Adam and I took Chandler out to breakfast. We had so much fun! We ate pancakes and watched her stare creepily lovingly at everyone else in the restaurant!

This month also marked the start of crawling! We now have a very mobile baby! She army crawls and likes to rock back and forth on her knees. She isn't pulling up yet...and we are FINE with that! She loves to crawl and roll around on the floor and is an expert at finding what we haven't yet baby-proofed...so I now spend her awake times following her around the house!

Sweet Chandler, your daddy and I love you so very much! You are the best part of our days. We love your sweet smile and your giggles and your "kisses" and hugs. You are still an easy baby and we are so lucky! We are looking forward for a whole slew of "firsts" that are coming up. We can't wait for your first Thanksgiving and Christmas, your first visit with Santa, your first steps, and your first real words. We love you to the moon and back.

Weekend (and Last Week) Recap

Wow! I missed you guys! Pardon my unannounced week off last week, but I was waist deep in cheesecake orders!

This weekend recap is going to cover the weekend and some fun things we did last week!

On Monday, Chan and I were busy busy! We had a play date at the zoo, followed by dinner at home and then a quick bath before going to watch Adam's basketball game.

Chandler and her friend Caroline at the zoo...this play date was GREAT for the mamas...
and maybe a little underwhelming for the babies!
I could not believe how much Chandler enjoyed Adam's basketball game. We got there early so we could see him and talk to him, in hopes that it would help her spot him on the court later. AND...it did! She watched him and got excited and squealed just about the whole time! We have a little basketball fan on our hands!

Basketball game selfie!
The rest of the week was filled with flu shots (she took it like a champ) and lots of new finger foods! Chan has become a fan of pretty much anything we put in front of her! Praise the Lord! BUT...spaghetti or really anything with a tomato sauce is her favorite...

I cannot get enough of that sweet spaghetti covered face! Obviously with the addition of spaghetti and solid foods in general, we've had to change up our routine and follow dinner with a bath...immediately! We're trying to get Chandler out of her baby tub and into the big tub but she is NOT into it. Anyone have any suggestions?

Adam and I are part of a supper club with my Sunday school class and we were supposed to meet this week, but it was cancelled...SOO we decided to celebrate anyway and go out on a little Tuesday night date. Y'all, sooo nice. It was just SO SO SO nice to go out together and talk about adult things and have adult conversation and laugh and eat and drink good wine. It just reminded us that we need to do it more often! Cheers to that!

The rest of the week was filled with lots of crawling (by the little one) and lots of cheesecake making (by me). I made my first sales this weekend and boy, it was busy! I sold five cheesecakes! The winer, by far, was the Heath Bar Cheesecake...feast your eyes on this...

After all of that cheesecake baking, we enjoyed a wonderful weekend with my parents. They arrived on Friday night and brought dinner (yes, they are saints) and we enjoyed dinner. Saturday morning, my parents took Chan on a walk and then brought her back home to play while Adam and I ran four miles...It felt so good! All of this training is paying off and I'm starting to feel a lot less nervous about running an 8K in just a few weeks!

We took a trip to the zoo and I must say, Chandler was a little more impressed this time! I'm sure that had something to do with the fact that a few minutes into the visit she pitched a fit and then was carried by one of her doting servants parents or grandparents for the rest of the trip. We were lucky to be there when you could feed the giraffes and I think Chandler was excited to see the life-sized version of Sophie le Giraffe.

She saw...and screeched at... an Alpaca. For the record, alpacas don't so much like being screeched at, even if it is the happiest and most excited screech of all.

And are these pictures not ridiculously adorable...

To say she loves her grandparents would be the understatement of the century...I mean she is STILL looking for them when I get her out of bed and they left yesterday...

We ended Saturday with some very quick Trick or Treating...that resulted in zero candy because she did not actually Trick or Treat...but she was the cutest little kitty I think I've ever seen...of course I am biased...

All in all last week and this weekend were just perfect. Lots of family time, lots of baby snuggles, lots of love. What more can you ask for?

How was your weekend?
