36 Week Bumpdate!

36 Weeks!
How far along: 36 Weeks! I cannot believe we are here. Some parts of this pregnancy have inched by, while other parts have literally flown. I feel like just yesterday we were on week six and waiting to share the good news!

Baby Size:  We had our growth check ultrasound this morning and it was such a special Christmas gift for us to be able to see our sweet babe! We hadn't seen her since our 18 week anatomy ultrasound and wow have things changed! We even got a 3D picture of her sweet face! I'm obviously biased, but she is beautiful...a cute little thing with the most adorable teeny nose and chubby cheeks you've ever seen. This week she is the size of a honey dew melon, and according to our ultrasound today, she weighs about 6 pounds and 10 ounces. She's measuring a little on the above average scale, but we are so happy with that. I have a feeling that with a mom who is 5'7" and a dad who is 6'4"...she might be a tall girl! We're just so thrilled that she looks to be healthy and growing!

Weight gain: I'm up a total of 34 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. And at this point, I'm happy with that. I'm hoping we can keep it under 40 pounds, but regardless, it looks like this weight I've gained has resulted in a content and healthy, growing baby.

Maternity clothes: All the time...though I still have two pairs of cropped non-maternity yoga pants that I can wear and they are some of my favorites! I've also been rocking one of Adam's hooded sweatshirts...it's enormous (as in too big for him too)...and I love it! I feel like I can hide in it a little!

Sleep: Sleep is just weird. Sometimes I'm sleeping like a log, other times I'm wide awake. I had a pregnancy...and let's be honest lifetime first earlier this week when I woke up at 2:30 and by 3:15 was so starving I had to get up and eat something. Nothing like eating a bowl of Golden Grahams with a cup of almond milk at 3:15 in the morning. Luckily it seemed to help and I think I was asleep again by around 4:00. Adam's been having some trouble sleeping also, I think for both of us it's a little anxiety plus a WHOLE lot of me getting up a million times during the night to go to the bathroom. Pregnancy is so glamorous.

Gender: GIRL!!!!!

Movement: She's moving a lot and seems to have a little bit of a schedule with her movements. She always tends to move a lot during my meal times and when I get in the bed at night. Not a bad schedule!! Hopefully we can keep that one up post-birth!

Best moment this week: I had a great weekend with my parents. Adam had to go to New Orleans on business and so my mom and dad came to stay with me while he was away. We had some great meals (as usual) and got a lot of things done. The bottles, pacis, etc. have all been boiled. The newborn clothes have all been washed. AND an extra treat, my dad worked like a dog building built-in shelves for our laundry room. This is a project that has been on the list for awhile and we were so thankful that he tackled it. He even took the time to paint it...and since he does not love to paint, we are EXTRA grateful.
Friday night dinner at one of our favorite spots: Il Giorgione...
if you haven't tried it...you need to!

Built-In shelves before installation and painting.
Looking forward to: I'm looking forward to having a few days off and celebrating Christmas with our families. We have so much to be grateful for this year and this is the perfect time to reflect on that. We are so very blessed.

Food cravings: No cravings standing out.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!

What I miss: I'd love to have a glass of wine or champagne at Christmas, but I'm nearly there, so that will come soon enough!

Symptoms: I've been having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions and some pretty severe round ligament pain. Earlier this week I had an impromptu visit to the doctor because of my round ligament pain. She prescribed a day in bed and that did the trick! I am hoping those pains will stay away during the holidays and after! Otherwise, I feel as good as you can when you're 36 weeks pregnant and wearing an orthopedic boot!

Nursery: I hope you enjoyed our little tour! We're going to add a small table for one of the lamps and the humidifier this week, but otherwise we are all ready for our little one's arrival, which will be so soon now! Our doctor doesn't think we need to go too far past the due date, so it's sounding like we'll for sure have a little one, if not before, then sometime in the week or so after! It is so insane to think that that is less than one month away!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Mood: I feel excited, anxious and most of all, overwhelmed with gratitude. Adam and I are so incredible blessed to have the opportunity to raise this little angel. We are so thankful for family and friends, and are so lucky that our little girl will be surrounded by so much love.

Workouts: No workouts this week. Trying to get out of this boot, so I'm taking it easy!

Merry Christmas everyone! I'll check back in after the holiday!

Nursery Tour

Ladies and Gentlemen, we're about as ready as we're going to be in terms of the nursery! Adam has worked long and hard to get it finished...and thanks to some help from family and friends, everything is in it's proper place now.

I know we still have a few things we'll want to do when she arrives, and I'm sure that we'll change some things around once we figure out what the heck we're doing! But, for the time being, this is it!

Baby's sweet crib (yes the bumpers will come out before she sleeps in the crib...I just couldn't resist!).

This is the rock and play that our little one will sleep in by our bed when she arrives. We want her close by at least for the first few weeks. This is residing in the nursery at the present moment, but will be moved into our room soon. I'm hoping to get a small table to put in that area for a lamp and the humidifier. I'm also still on the hunt for a standing fan to go in the corner.

A peek inside the crib! This is by far my favorite crib sheet and I love these two options for our little babe's going home outfit! We have a little obsession with lambs...so the outfit on top is our number on choice. We have an adorable blanket with a matching lamb on it as well. You'd better believe it's already packed up and in the diaper bag for the hospital!

Major splurge purchase. This was hard to capture on camera, but Adam surprised me with this sweet BlaBla mobile that I fell in love with at Baby Furniture Plus. It is a cute little flock of geese and they are so sweet and simple. I just love them! Once she arrives, we plan to hang a painting with her monogram over the crib. BUT, until then, it will be a blank wall. We haven't quite decided on a name yet!

Here are her built in shelves. We're working on her book collection...and ignore the top shelf, as we've stocked a few books up there for WAY down the road. I love the striped baskets, they have tons of storage, and we're all ready to go with the Sleep Sheep and Sophie Le Giraffe!

This is by far the most calming little area in the room. We LOVE our rocker/recliner and it's perfectly nestled right in the cozy corner of the room. I'm sure we'll be spending a lot of time in that chair!

The dresser turned out perfectly! It's amazing what a few coats of paint and some bronze polish will do to really clean something up! Adam and my dad built the box on top to hold the changing pad. And Adam, who has some serious patience, spent a while hanging the gallery wall above. We still have a few finishing touches, but I'm really excited with how it turned out!

One more look at the gallery wall! And that's it! Our sweet baby's room is finally complete. I can't believe we'll be bringing her home in just a few weeks! This has been such a fun ride...I'm betting the next roller coaster is even better!

35 Week Bumpdate!

35 Weeks!

How far along: 35 Weeks! I cannot believe how time has flown by. To be honest, I'm reaching the point now where I'm a little paranoid...and a lot on edge. It is absolutely rocking my world that we don't know exactly when this little one will arrive!

Baby Size:  This week our babe is about the size of a coconut or a canary melon. She's about 19-22 inches long and weighs about 5 1/2 pounds. Her hearing is fully developed and she can respond best to high pitched noises. She's also definitely running out of room and causing her mom some pretty serious heartburn these days!

Weight gain: I was up 32 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight at my last appointment. I'm really hoping to keep the weight gain under or right at 40 pounds. I have my next appointment next Tuesday and then every Tuesday after that until she arrives!

Maternity clothes: All the time...and I'm starting to run out of options!!! I swear by the end I'll be living in yoga pants and Adam's t-shirts!

Sleep: I'm sleeping okay. I was up this morning at about 4:00 battling heartburn and sciatica...so I guess I'm just prepping for when she arrives!

Gender: GIRL!!!!!

Movement: She's still moving a fair amount, when she moves. But she is definitely logging lots of good sleep time now too. I am positive that she hasn't "dropped" yet as my ribs seem to be her favorite place to hang out these days!

Best moment this week: We hosted our Annual Chili Party this past Saturday and it was so much fun. We so enjoyed seeing everyone and it now really feels like Christmas! It is so interesting to see how things have changed in just a year. Last year the party was larger, louder, and well, a little tipsier! This year it was smaller and slightly more subdued as the majority of our guests now either have children or are expecting them. It's such a fun time and we are so lucky that so many of our friends have children right around the same ages!

Looking forward to: I'm looking forward to getting some last minute projects done this weekend with my parents. Adam has a business trip, so they are coming to keep me company. We'll be washing baby clothes, boiling bottles, and working on getting some things organized!

Food cravings: I've been craving sweets and then lighter foods lately. I can't really eat a whole lot, so things like fruits, vegetables, and salads have been staples in my diet in the past few weeks. I'm also trying to be a little healthier when I can so that I can try to indulge in some yummy holiday foods without feeling too guilty. Once this little one arrives, it's back to healthy eating and the gym! Gotta lose this baby weight...plus a little!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing is making me sick, but I really have to watch the quantity of food that I eat because that will make me feel sick! I'm trying to eat smaller meals and snack a little on apples and things in between.

What I miss: I miss my clothes, walking, running, and having a little time at the gym. I'm doing some exercising at home (yoga and arms), but otherwise...just taking it easy so this foot will heal quickly!

Symptoms: Swelling, braxton hicks contractions, heartburn, and just being uncomfortable in general...these should all stick around for these last weeks, so I just need to take it easy and try to enjoy the ride!

Nursery: The nursery is ready and I'll be posting a little tour soon! Stay tuned! We installed car seat bases this weekend and I put the "snap and go" stroller together and got it into the back of my car. I've started packing our hospital bag and things are really starting to feel real...and surreal at the same time!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Mood: I'm excited, nervous, anxious, thrilled, and everything in between!

Workouts: This week I really took it easy to give my foot a break. I did about 30 minutes of prenatal yoga floor work yesterday and that seemed to go pretty well, so I'm going to try and keep that up. Those are exercises I can do without the boot that don't seem to bother my tendonitis...but do help me get my workout fix! I'm also going to take this time to do some arm work. I've neglected my arms lately, but need to pay some attention to them now as they'll soon be lifting, holding, and carrying a baby!

We are very excited about everything that is coming up. Though it took me a little while to come around on this, we're hosting Christmas at our house this year for the first time, and I'm starting to get excited. Some of you probably know that I really wanted to be "home" at my parents house for one last "normal" Christmas, but that just wasn't in the cards this year. 36 weeks and traveling for Christmas while wearing a boot...ummm probably not the best idea.

So, that said, Adam and I are starting some holiday preparations and taking a stab and solidifying some new traditions. This will also be exciting, because my parents have never seen our house decorated for Christmas!

34 Week Bumpdate!

34 Weeks!

How far along: 34 Weeks....and a couple of days since I'm late with this post!

Baby Size:  Our sweet one is the size of a pineapple this week! She is anywhere from 16-19 inches long and weighs around 5 pounds. For the next few weeks, until she is born, she will basically be hanging out and gaining about a half a pound a week! I can't believe that in fewer than 3 weeks she will be full term!

Weight gain: I'm up 32 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm expecting that I'll hit about 40 pounds before she arrives.

Maternity clothes: All the time...I'm actually starting to grow out of some of them...which is frightening!

Sleep: I'm sleeping well when I'm asleep...but waking up frequently. I've been trying to take advantage of having a little extra time (as opposed to not having any when the baby arrives), which means a nap here and there!

Gender: GIRL!!!!!

Movement: She's moving a lot and her movements are definitely more pronounced. That said, I have noticed that she seems to be moving less and less, which is very normal for this time. She's running out of space!

Best moment this week: Had a great week and a great and relaxing weekend. I volunteered with my church on Saturday to decorate at Epworth Children's Home. It was certainly the highlight of the week!

Looking forward to: We're hosting our annual Chili Party this weekend and I'm looking forward to it. Adam insisted we have it this year...so he's running the show, which will be good. But I'm looking forward to spending time with some friends!

Food cravings: Nothing really.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!

What I miss: I miss my clothes...and now I miss walking...this happened this week...

I have tendonitis in my right foot and I'm now in a boot for the next 4-6 weeks. It's not going to be fun...but at least it's forcing me to take it easy! No more long walks for this girl for the time being!

Symptoms: Swelling, braxton hicks contractions, and just being uncomfortable in general...all of these will persist until the end, so I'm just trying to take a deep breath and keep on going!

Nursery: The nursery is as ready as it's going to be! We were able to hang pictures this weekend and the gallery wall over the dresser looks great! We're so excited to be finished! I still want to do a few things in the nursery, but not until our little one arrives!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Mood: My moods are all over the place. We'll chalk it up to hormones...but it's definitely a wild ride!

Workouts: Before THE boot...I walked 6 miles this week...and now my workouts are going to be a little less frequent. I'm giving myself a couple of weeks off and then I might ease back into some prenatal yoga. For the time being though, I'm just trying to take it easy and get out of this boot before our little one arrives!

We're so excited to meet our little one and we're doing all of the last minute preparations. We hope to have car seat bases installed and a start on packing our hospital bags this week. We're also steadily decorating for Christmas, as we have decided not to travel for the holidays. We'll be welcoming family into our home for Christmas for the first time. It's exciting and also bittersweet because it means some of my childhood traditions are coming to an end! Luckily, this little babe will make new traditions that much more exciting!

33 Week Bumpdate!

33 Weeks!
How far along: 33 Weeks!!!

Baby Size: Our little girl is the size of a honeydew melon (WOAH!!!). She is about 18 - 19 inches long and weighs about 4,5 pounds.

Weight gain: I have gained about 30 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. I expect that by the end, I'll be up to 35 or 40...I may or may not have already started planning how I'm going to get back to my normal size!

Maternity clothes: All the time...and I'm starting to run out of options...or really just get tired of the few options I have!

Sleep: I'm sleeping fairly well, but waking up several times a night. Luckily, each time I wake up, I've been able to go back to sleep again.

Gender: GIRL!!!!!

Movement: Lots of movement! I've started to kind of keep track of her most active times, I'm interested to see if they'll transfer at all once she is born!

Best moment this week: We had such a wonderful Thanksgiving week. We spent so much time with family and it was so nice to relax. We helped my family decorate for Christmas, and took a little day trip to the High Museum of Art followed by a wonderful lunch at F&B. We got back to Columbia Sunday and purchased our tree...and the house is just about decorated!

Looking forward to: I'm looking forward to a weekend at home and volunteering with TRUMC (my church) at Epworth Children's Home! We'll be there Saturday morning decorating for Christmas!

Food cravings: Sweets. This is fairly new. While I have wanted a lot of fruit and ice cream throughout my whole pregnancy, lately I've been a little more sweets focused. But, given the weight gain, I'm trying to eat plenty of fruits, veggies and lean proteins, and only give in the cravings here and there.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!

What I miss: My wardrobe!!!!

Symptoms: Swelling feet and pelvis/hip pain. My prenatal yoga videos have been helping a lot with the hip and pelvis pain. As for the swelling, well...putting my feet up still helps, but I make a little less progress every time. This weekend will certainly call for some couch time!

Nursery: We just need to map out the gallery wall and hang artwork! This is on the to do list for this weekend!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Mood: I'm excited and anxious...standard. I'm also kind of boggled by the fact that there is no set date for this to happen. As we approach my due date, I'm wishing more and more that it was set in stone! You know I like to plan! To get ready, we're going to install car seat bases this weekend and I'm going to get started packing my hospital bag!

Workouts: Pretty yoga heavy on the workouts this week! I did about 3 hours of yoga and walked about 2.5 miles. The yoga is a great workout and provides a few minutes for me to clear my head!

I am so thrilled at everything that is coming up, but I'm also nervous. I really feel like I need to focus on this a little more and buckle down and start reading some books. But, at the same time, I feel like I really need to make the most of the time that Adam and I have together before our little nugget arrives.

32 Week Bumpdate!

32 Weeks!
How far along: 32 Weeks which means we've got about eight weeks left...give or take! So crazy!

Baby Size: Our little girl is the size of a head of lettuce this week. She is about 19 inches long and weighs about 4 pounds. Over the next few weeks she should gain about a half a pound or so a week. I scheduled the rest of my appointments with my doctor yesterday and I'm really looking forward to our growth check ultrasound at week 36! Can't wait to see our sweet girl again!

Weight gain: To date, I've gained about 30 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. I have seen my weight gain start to slow down...and that probably goes hand in hand with the fact that I am not eating quite as much and am trying to eat more veggies and less heavy food in an effort to feel less full!

Maternity clothes: All the time, and some of them are starting to get a little snug!?! Thank goodness for Piko shirts, I'm living in them now!

Sleep: Sleep is really hit or miss. Some nights I sleep really well and other nights I don't sleep at all! I'm trying to just clear my head before I get in bed at night, but sometimes that is easier said than done!

Gender: GIRL!!!!!

Movement: We have got a mover! I read an article yesterday that said that about this time, our little one should be sleeping 90-95% of the day...and based on her movements, I'm not sure she is! I think we have one active little babe! I can't wait to spend that awake time with her when she arrives! I'm so ready to see her little face and snuggle with her!

Best moment this week: Adam and I had a great weekend in Charlotte. We got most of our Christmas shopping done and spent some really nice time together. We had some great meals and just quality bonding time! We're trying to get as much of that in as possible these days!

Looking forward to: I can't wait to spend time with family this week! I am so grateful that we'll get to have a pretty normal Thanksgiving this year before everything changes!

Food cravings: No real cravings lately. I have been wanting more salads and fresh steamed vegetables, but otherwise, no major cravings!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!

What I miss: Still missing my old clothes and my normal feet. But, the countdown is on!

Symptoms: Swelling and pain in my hips. Both of these are really normal for this time...and I'll be living with these two symptoms until this pregnancy comes to an end!

Nursery: The nursery is getting so close! All we really have left to do is hang pictures! Hopefully we'll have some time to do that in the coming weeks!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Mood: I'm in a great mood and so excited to spend time with my family this week! We've got lots of fun planned for the next few days!

Workouts: I did about one hour of yoga this week and walked a total of 9 miles. I desperately need to step up my yoga hours and am hoping to do a little more with my sister when we're together later this week!

Adam and I are getting so excited about this sweet girl. Adam is really ready to see her and hold her...and I couldn't agree more. Though I'm anxious about having a baby, I am really looking forward to meeting this little one! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! We are so blessed with this little one and so grateful for wonderful family and friends.

31 Week Bumpdate!

31 Weeks!

How far along: 31 Weeks! And time is flying by!

Baby Size: Baby girl is about the size of a coconut or a pineapple! She is about 18 inches long and weighs about 3.5 pounds. Her brain and nerves and really doing some serious development this week. The irises in her eyes can now react to light!

Weight gain: I've gained around 28 pounds. I'm definitely headed towards gaining in more of the 35 - 40 pound weight range. While this is not my favorite, I know my body is taking what it needs to help our sweet girl develop. And...hopefully it will all come off with some breastfeeding coming January and February!

Maternity clothes: Oh yes...and some of my maternity clothes are even starting to get a little tight!

Sleep: Not so great. Sometimes I sleep really well, other times, not so much. I'm finding that all it takes is one thought to keep me up all night, whether it is the nursery, packing our bags for the hospital or planning a grocery list...once my mind starts going, there is no sleeping!

Gender: GIRL!!!!!

Movement: She is moving a lot, but I am starting to notice that she seems to sleep for longer stretches. When she is awake, I can tell because her movements are much more pronounced than they have been...I guess that is what happens when you start running out of room!

Best moment this week: I had a great weekend at home with my parents. I was in Jackson for the weekend and it was so nice to be able to relax and spend time with my mom and dad without any distractions. We worked on the cornices for the nursery, ate some wonderful meals (as usual), and even did a little yoga! On Sunday some close family friends threw a little baby shower for me! It was so wonderful to see family and friends, the perfect way to top off an already great weekend!

Looking forward to: Adam and I are getting away soon for a little Christmas shopping and relaxation. I can't wait for a little "us" time. We'll also be crossing some baby items off the list! AND one of my dearest friends is coming over tonight to help me get a handle of the disaster that is our nursery at the present. We are so blessed that our baby has been showered with so many gifts...but it's time to figure out where everything goes!!! Thank goodness for Ashley!

Food cravings: No cravings. Food is starting to become difficult again. I am not ever super hungry and am finding that it is very easy to eat too much. I really need to thing closely about what I eat before I eat it

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope

What I miss: I am ready for normal feet and ready to wear my old clothes. I'm starting to getting a little tired of the same maternity clothes over and over...

Symptoms: Swelling feet and round ligament pain...and that's pretty much it!

Nursery: Hoping that after tonight's organization party that it will be getting in shape! Hopefully we'll be at a place for me to post a full tour!

Wedding rings on or off? On! Thank goodness no swelling in my hands, yet!

Mood: Hmmm...this one is tough...it's all over the place! One minute I am excited, the next overwhelmed, the next anxious, and then thrilled...it's a roller coaster!

Workouts: Workouts this week were a little slim. I walked a total of six miles and did three hours of prenatal yoga. I'm having to cut back on my walking because of my round ligament pain and slowly widening hips. The Prenatal yoga does help ease the pain, so I'm hoping to amp that up a little over the coming weeks, as my walking dwindles.

30 Week Bumpdate!

30 weeks!!!
How far along: 30 Weeks...I can't believe we're in the home stretch with only ten weeks to go! It's exciting and scary and bittersweet. While I'm ready, I'm also feeling like I'm really not ready!

Baby Size: Baby girl is the size of a butternut squash this week! She is about 17 inches long and weighs about 3 pounds! She is still filling out and putting on weight and as her organs finish developing, the lanugo (little hairs) all over her body are starting to come off! I can't believe she'll be full term in just 7 weeks!

Weight gain: Up about 25 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that the number on the scale is okay and it's okay that it's going to keep going up. I'm going to continue exercising and eating well and hopefully when the time comes, getting in shape will be easy and fulfilling. I'm ready to get back to running and exercising like normal!

Maternity clothes: Of course! Though I'm trying to pair my maternity pants with some non-maternity tops. Only about ten more weeks and I'd love to get through them without buy too much more in the maternity clothes department!

Sleep: Sleep is even more interesting than it was last week...I am starting to get the impression that I might be moving into the insomnia phase...3:00am and I have started to really get to know each other...

Gender: GIRL!!!!!

Movement: Tons! This weekend was so exciting because she was really moving a lot and my family was able to feel some serious kicks. Their reactions were picture perfect and so sweet. This little nugget is already so loved!

Best moment this week: We had a great weekend with my parents and sister in town and summed it all up with the best couples shower on Sunday! We are so very lucky to have such wonderful and sweet friends. I feel so blessed that our little girl will grow up surrounded by such fun, smart, and caring adults.

Looking forward to: I'm looking forward to a little trip home this weekend! Some sweet sweet friends of mine and my family are hosting a fun little ladies shower on Sunday and I am looking forward to seeing everyone! This is also the next to last REALLY busy week at work, and I'm looking forward to the light at the end of the tunnel!

Food cravings: Still pancakes and fruit...

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing!

What I miss: Missing red wine and regular feet...the feet more than the wine.

Symptoms: Swelling feet. I know I have a lot of control over this...I can make things much better if I slow down and put my feet up, but finding time to do that is hard and the swelling is frustrating. But, I'm hoping as things slow down a little in the next few weeks that I'll be able to really get this under control!

Nursery: We're almost there. Just a few small things now! Stay tuned for a full tour in the next several weeks!

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Mood: My mood is all over the place. I'm going to blame this on the third trimester hormones...but I'm really starting to see some major swings. I feel like most days I wake up on the "right side of the bed" and then within minutes can be in tears...poor Adam has soldiered through this part and been a sweetheart about comforting me...even when I'm not even sure what I'm crying about! Pregnancy can be a little crazy!

Workouts: This week was a little slack on the workouts. It was truly a very busy week, I walked about 8.5 miles and did one hour of yoga. Hopefully I'll get back on track with the workouts this coming week!

There are so many emotions flying around now. We are excited and nervous, thrilled and anxious. I'm really starting to feel the nesting coming on and I imagine after this weekend it will be full force as we start to really get down to business and get things organized. It's time to start stocking up on diapers, postpartum needs, and start stocking the freezer with meals for when baby comes! This is all so wonderful and amazing and completely overwhelming. I'm excited, but at the same time, glad we have ten more weeks (give or take...).
